Liesbeth van der Heide is a lecturer and researcher at the Centre for Terrorism and Counterterrorism (Leiden University – Campus The Hague). Her fields of interest are: rehabilitation and de-radicalisation of violent extremist offenders in prison; security in International Relations; lone wolf terrorism and effective counter-terrorism. She has managed several research projects over the last years, including a research project for the Dutch National Police (KLPD) on lone wolf terrorism, research for the Dutch intelligence service (AIVD) regarding reducing fear through crisis communication and a research project for the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) on the impact of the Breivik trial.

Currently, she coordinates the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT)’s activities on the rehabilitation and reintegration of violent extremist offenders.
